IAM file conversion to STP or IGS

Hello,

I have a problem converting a file into STP or IGES formats. Inventor 2011 keep crashing.

I managed to do shrinkwrap which is 38MB in size. I am converting this 38MB file into other formats

for customer suitability. Any suggestions please

Does customer need internal parts or only external form factor?

That file size sounds large - but not no real description of what the customer needs.

Can you at least post screen shot?

Hi ,

It's Generator Model and it doesn't have any internal parts. Its modelled for only external components that are visible in real world. I can't attach any image cos of legality.

Thanks

Hi kalpesh_43,

Thanks for your reporting !!!

Without the orginal mode (because it is legal) I cannot reproduce and do more investigation about your crash, but I suppose you can try below scenarioes that based on my experience.

Scenario 1: If possible please upgrade your Inventor version to 2013 and re-try.

Scenario 2: I am not sure if STEP/IGES is the only choice for you, as some other CAD apps (i.e. Creo, Solidworks...) can open *.iam directly, or does other format meet your requirement ? such as Parasolid/SAT...... export in Export dialog box.

Scenario 3: Does other export format works well in inventor ? if that is case, maybe you can try this workaround: Export *.iam to CATIA V5/JT/Parasolid/Pro Engineer/SAT -> Open it back in Inventor or CATIA V5/Creo if possible  -> Export to STEP/IGES

Hope it can help you and have a nice day !!!

Post your system spec's as well. You might be pushing your system limits.

Inventor 2020, In-Cad, Simulation Mechanical

Just insert the picture rather than attaching it as a file
