I Part Question

I'm new to creating I-parts. I'm currntly using others Iparts and I like them. Now I would like to create my own.
All I want to do is create an extrusion that when inserted into an assembly a prompt will ask me a length and the part will be created. I already have the profile. Can someone tell me how to set up the table?

look at the custom iparts tutorial. You'll have to read the others first
however.

After reading the tutorial. It seems like I have to set up a table of lengths. All I want to be able to do is enter a length for the extrusion and it will be created much like the steel shapes are created in the library that Inventor has. Anyone?

You read two tutorials in 16 mins?

Which one did you read? The custom iParts tutorial? It explains it all...

okay I know how to get the custom parameters done. but I get this message when I insert the file into an assembly.
"Detected potentially damaging errors in the table. Too few keys in the table. Column or cell is tagged as both custom value and as key: #0" All I have is a suface and I want to thicken it do a desired length.

Fred
It sounds like you need to post your Ipart to the ICF and have someone edit
it for you... Any takers?

You must have at least one key. Make a "other" column named anything and
put some value in it. Make this column a key. Since there is only one row
in this column it will be the only choice in the left hand pane of the
custom ipart placement dialogue.

All iParts, even custom ones, must hat at least one key and they key cannot
be the custom property.

Sorry it took so long to post a reply at ICF, I didn't have the correct URL. Anyway, I hope it helps... Jeff Thompson
