How do you change the default .stl output resolution?

A former employee here once discovered that you can edit the registry to
improve the output resolution of .stl files higher than the default by
making a registry change. Unfortunately I can't remember how he did it.
Anyone know?

Thanks,

Pat

Here's a reply to myself. Just after I posted this I checked my old email
and it turns out he sent me a message describing the registry change. Here
it is:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Autodesk\Inventor\RegistryVersion5.2\System\Prefe
rences\STL Output

That was for 5.3, I don't know if it still works for 6.

Is this something you have to change often? I didn't add that to iTweak as
I didn't think many people would need it. If you do I can add it to the
next version.

Not terribly often but that would be useful. The case I have is that I am
having some die-cast prototype parts quoted using the investment castings
from SLA masters. This process uses an 85 percent hollow SLA with a thin,
solid skin so any sanding or finishing to the master runs the risk of
opening up pores. As a result the gradation of the master shows up in the
cast part and has to be buffed out there. This can be minimized using a
much higher resolution file so in this instance it's nice to be able to
tweak.

Thanks Sean,

Pat
