How do I update mirrorred parts?

HI,

I have an assembly with mirrorred parts. When I change the original part, the mirror parts are not updated.

I have to remove the mirrored parts  and create the mirror feature again.

Is there a way to update them?

It sounds like someone unchecked the link to parent part. The normal/default function is to have the child (the mirrored part) update whenever the parent part is changed. One way to check is to opened one of the mirrored parts (a child) and in the browser see what symbol is there.

If in the browser the parent component show two cubes (one yellow, one Blue) then the component is linked back to the parent.

If the browser shows a grayed chain link with a line through it then you’re in luck and the link back to the component is merely suppressed and you can un-suppress it by right clicking on the file name and selecting un-suppress to link part option.

If the browser shows a chain with the center link showing a gap then this part had the link back to the parent component broken and there is no way to reconnect it. This maybe what is happening.

Once you re-mirror the part it should be linked to the parent and correct any broken links as it is a new part.

Hi,

I have almost the same problem. I changed the "Material" in "Physical Tab" of iprepertis for the base component but it donst change in the mirrored part. Should it be possible anyway?

By the way, the link between the parent compnent and mirrored one is not brocken or suppressed.

No.  A derived part does not link the material.  In many cases you would not want the material linked, but in the case of mirrored parts I can see that it would be beneficial.

Hi,

My mirrored component shows two cubes (one yellow, one Blue), but it is not updated. I know updating mirrored parts has worked perfectly previously, so it is very frustrating when it suddenly doesn't. Any ideas of what I can do?

Thanks!

Hi! Do you mind sharing an example here? Does it work if you do the followings?

1) Go to source part -> Manage -> Rebuild All.

2) In the mirror derived part -> edit the derive node in the browser -> Ok.

Many thanks!

Initially I observed that the colors were not updated. Changes in geometry seem to work fine. Is color and material excluded from the updating?

If so, I can live with it...

Appearance can be linked, material cannot, as far as I know.  Open the mirrored part, and right click on the Derive feature in the browser, select Edit Derived Part.  Check the box that says "Use color override from source component", then OK and save.
