Correct me if I am wrong, but I am pretty certain that Visibility does not release RAM like Suppression does. If this is truly the case, it would be good to note that a good use of View Reps and LOD is key in speeding up design, but keep in mind that Suppression (LOD concept), is more beneficial when considering computer load. Visibility(View Reps concept) works well in cases where you absolutely cannot suppress something. At least that is what I can tell from the documentation, which is far from complete.
Both can be huge helps in simplification processes. Before the exchange app, Inventor Simplification, came out, I would make simple parts in assemblies to make envelopes to simplify models and then do a shrinkwrap to them. In that process, Suppressions were used when possible to be able to keep the original model and the end simplified model in one file. Then I would export to DWG into AutoCAD Plant 3D. Worked great.
Ah, I see. Thanks, Steven! Now I can rest easy knowing that I have been taking the best possible routes for speed and accuracy in that regard.
