HP printer bug

Since installing Iv 7 i have a a problem when printing an idw to my HP Laserlet 5000 GN printer. Any symbols on the drawing like diametre or plus/minus print out as just a letter, such as Q instead of diametre. Has anyone else had this problem, and how was is resolved.

Thanks

Oh yeah, i am using windows 2000 Pro

Make sure you've got the AIGDT fonts installed

AIGDT font is available within text windows etc. I am not having a problem getting the symbols on the screen, its just when i print the printer doesnt like them.

I'm not sure, but maybe the server/workstation that
is running the printing service doesn't have the font loaded?

We use an HP 5000N printer on a jet direct
port.

1.) Make sure you have the proper drivers for each
operating system on the server.

2.) Make sure you have the right printer language
selected, e.g. PCL 6 .vs PCL 5.  I have had similar symbol problems
printing from Microsoft word if I don't use PCL 6.  You change it by
through the printer setup on the printer server.

yeah now u are starting to talk about the right stuff i think. I have been using PCL6 and having the problems, i have tried PCL5 and it goes even worse, letters and number all just randomly place all round the page, i have also tried PS (post script) this works as far as the sysbols go, but i dont have any of the printing options that i do in PCL6, such as printing A3.

Download the latest printer driver for all OS's
attached, install it on the server.  We have NT4.0 server controlling the
jetdirect port, but I print from XPpro without problems (after I changed to PCL
6).

For the letters being randomly placed look for a setting "Print Text as graphics" If you
set that it should help.
