Frame generator large diameter pipe?

How do I insert pipe with diameter greater than 12" diameter

Can this be done?  There are various pipe options in content center that exceed 12" in diameter, but I can't seem to pull them up in frame generator.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Tube & pipe will only route pipes that are set up in your Tube & Pipe styles, which are found in the design data file called Piping Runs.iam.

You can add to existing styles, or create new ones with existing or custom pipes and fittings.  If you cannot use large diameters now, my guess is there are no styles existing that go up that high. Locate this file.... should be in your Design Data folder, perhaps under a sub folder called Tube & Pipe.  Open it in Inventor and go to the Tube & Pipe tab.  Edit Tube & Pipe styles.

All of these styles were created from scratch, out of the box there are very few set up... basically a small handful just to get you started.

Look over this section in the wiki help, it should help you get going.  If not, post back here and I'll see if I can steer you.

Good luck.

Chris,

Thanks for your detailed post.

I am trying to use the larger diameter pipe in Frame Generator, not Tube & Pipe.  Does the same general approach apply to Frame Generator?

Well, I feel stupid.

No the setup for frame generator is different.  The reason it isn't working is you are trying to use pipe conduit, which was authored and published to be used with T&P.  To work in FG the pipes would have to be authored as FG parts.  You can create your own FG components, pretty much any size and shape.

To copy an existing family form Content Center, which is in the Pipe Conduit area, to use in Frame Gen, is a pretty complex procedure... do you need the entire family or just the 12" size"

Chris,

At this time I probably won't create any frame generator components.  I just wanted to be sure that I wasn't missing something that could be done "out of the box."

Thanks again for your input.

there is a lot of options for circular hollow sections greater than 12" in diameter in FG, if using the closest in geometry and overriding the BOM details is ok...

eg. DIN has pipe upto ~24", ISO has CHS upto ~48"
