Hello,
When I try to open the Frame Generator Feature in Autodesk Inventor 2013, the dialog box does not appear and I am unable to create or edit frame members. This was not an issue in the 2012 version that I had installed. Does anyone have an idea what the problem is? Thanks!

Tyler,
I'm not up to 2013 yet, but in 2012 the shapes are edited and created in the sketch environment then enabled for FG use via the Structural Shapes tool, right?
If you're saying the dialoge box is offscreen then this post has some good suggestions...
Hope this helps,
Hello,
Thank you for your response. I dont think it is a problem on the dialog box appearing off screen. I tried several tricks and I just do not think to dialoge box is showing up at all. Any more suggestions? Thanks.
Tyler
Open the Tutorial Files > analyze_frame.iam
Right click Edit the Frame0001
Right click Edit with Frame Generator the first frame member.
What happens?

JDMather:
Thank you for your response. I tried what you said and have the same issue. Attached is a screenshot of my problem. as you can see there is no dialoge box in sight. Do you have any idea what the problem could be? Thanks
Your screen capture would have been a little more informative if you and first clicked on the Design tab.
Sure looks like you are in Frame Generator edit mode but the dialog box is somewhere off-screen.
Are you or have you ever used dual monitors with this box?

I answer the easy questions if I think I know the answer.
About the only things I know are - "Sketch1 isn't constrained" and "an iam without ipt files is useless".
If you stay here a while you will see that I have copied those two responses here around 19,000 times.

then Please JDMather i want ur 19826 answer to my qustion ,(( A Cyclical Constraint dependency was detected)). WHY this error appear in my Inventor?
I guess Ill try reinstalling it because I didnt have this problem at all in version 2012. Thanks for your advice though JDMather.
Hello,
I also have a problem with my frame generator. I have a fully constrained sketch, which I could use yesterday for frame generator, but today, I haven't changed the sketch or anything, my frame generator does nothing.. It tells me to select the lines or sketches I want to use, but I can't do anything else..
You should have started a new thread for this as it sounds like your problem is different.
Have you installed all Service Packs for r2013?
(the answer is no)
Have you rebooted the computer and the problem persists?
In the assembly you attached the skeleton sketches visibility is turned off.
Also missing the frame files as unresolved (do you get this error or do you see your frame? - post screen shot).
Are you using Vault? Project?
I rebooted my pc, and it made no difference. I tried on a friends laptop though and it worked. Normally all the service packs are installed, it updates automatically. I'm working in a single user project.
The sketches are ok, no issues. Normally when I start frame generator from these sketches in an . iam, it gives me a box, where you can choose materials, size, placement and so on.. Now I can only select those sketchlines I want to use, but no more than that. I don't see no box, no command to follow up with.
I attached a screenshot from the . iam
No, iProperties indicate that at least with the file you attached your Inventor Service Packs are not up-to-date.
I have heard of Windows Updates occurring automatically, but I have never heard of that behavior with Inventor updates.
I even posted link above. (post screen shot of Help>About Autodesk Inventor showing that your SP are up-to-date)
Are you using dual monitors - I suspect that maybe the dialog box is off the screen.
But before doing anything else I would
1. Temporarily turn off UAC and Anti-virus
2. Install Service Packs and Updates for your release of Inventor
What version of Windows are you using?
If you are using project files, you might check that the structural member is enabled. Sometimes that gets toggled off.
