Frame Generator Problem April 22/2014

Hello everybody,

To start off I am using inventor Pro 2014.

I have used frame generator plenty of times with zero issues. It's a fundamental aid to our in house tooling design and is a great tool.

As of today I needed to create a small guesset, I snapped a couple lines in opend the frame generator dialog box, selected my lines and custom profile (extrusion) to be used they automatically update, visually I can see that it is what I want but when clicking "apply" or "ok" they just dissappear leaving me with a "+" under my mouse pointer.

I unselected the "Prompt for file name" check box in hopes that maby a second dialog box is off screen.

I have tried a seperate assembly, same problem. I have gone as far as restarting the CAD work station again to no avail.

Above is after i selected the 2 random lines and clicked apply, you can see the buttons "apply" and "ok" have shadowed leading you to belive the operation is complete but the frame is not inserted and I am left with the skeletal model

This also happens with profiles that come in Inventor? Or are you just happen with customized profiles?

Once happened to me a similar thing, but i had been working with 2 monitors, and then when I returned just 1 monitor some dialog boxes did not appear and I could not finish operations (happened in this function). You worked with expanded monitor recently?

Can also always install the latest Inventor 2014 updates

Yes I do work with dual monitors and this problem has just started today.

I have also tried some of the pre loaded profiles (ANSI Standard stuff) to no avail.

I will try to loading the new updates and report back

Ok, I made some progress..

It seems that if I place the skelal model as an IPT into my master assembly, (where other frame generated assemblys lay)

I then can use the frame genorator and select the lines and replace them with a frame profile of my choice.

However, if I create a new assembly it will not work. Would this have anything to do with a Project associativity?
