Flat Pattern with Rib features

My flat pattern of a sheet metal part fails when I added strenthening Press ribs to the middle of the part using an iFeature.

I know Inventor is not capable of flattening embossed sheetmetal but is there a way to still get the flat pattern & ignore the formed areas?

Seems to me I was able to add some model features in the past like bosses, extruded holes KO's etc & I could still make a flat pattern.

I know I can use derived part to do it but that adds complications.

Use sheet metal Punch tool for those ribs.  (a Punch tool is a special iFeature)

Hi JD,

Is it as simple as adding a center mark to the Press Rib ide file &moving the ide into the punch folder from the other folder or do I need to create a Press rib tool from scratch? This is a compicated iFeature tool & I'm not sure about being able to reproduce it.

A little more to it (not much) than adding center mark and location.

When you create the iFeature there is a tickbox for Punch tool.

I always create my iFeatures as Punch tools whether they really are punches or not.
