Flat Pattern of 45 deg standard elbow

Hi...everyone...

I am ANkit and using 2013 inventor. I tried to make flat pattern from the standard 45 deg elbows have thk 0.237" and 4" dia.

But I am not able to do it.

Please help me ASAP.

I need to give this pattern to my welder to cut 45 deg elbows from 90 deg elbows.

Please find attached part and also tell me the steps to learn.

Thanks,

ANKIT

It is not possible to make a flat plate out of a pipe elbow.  Duct elbow, yes.  Pipe elbow, no.  A torus is a non-developable surface.

I have a large NC pipe bending machine in the shop with 9" centerline radius dies and can bend elbow for you. You can also buy But-Weld elbows with the ends already beveled for welding to create your own "bent" pipe.

As previously indicated, Inventor will not (correctly) unfold that shape.

As others have said, Inventor wont do it. However, there are third party software options that can. They're not free, nor cheap in most cases, but if you do this a lot it may be worth a look.

You could do it with the "Contour-Roll" feature. Don't know how you would make it on the shop floor.

You would end up with a rectangular piece of metal that would have to be rolled into a tube, a seam weld the full length and then bent in a pipe/tube bender with bending mandrels and dies.

Something like this. The flat pattern will still be a rectangle. I just did a 90 degree elbow but easily done to 45.

Opps, forgot you are only on IV2013
