Flat Pattern With Multiple Rips

Hello,

Is there a way to choose which flat pattern shows up on a  Sheet Metal part where there are multiple rips?

Ex) a tank shell that is in quarters

Sheet metal does not support multi-body solids.
Sounds like you might want to do Derived Components instead.

Can you attach the file here?

Hello,

I have attached an example of a shell from the past, thanks.

I would do as multi-body solid and then push out the individual parts for sheet metal.

The holes aren't technically correct (go to flat pattern and wireframe mode - notice double lines because the sides of the cuts are not perpendicular to the flat).

Unless you have a swivel head plasma, laser, water jet.... to cut these...

Thanks I will look into using that.

We edit the DXFs before sending them away so they are just square cuts on the sheets.

If you have trouble figuring out the solution - hollar back.
I think you will find it an excellent work-flow for your needs/

While looking into the attached model, there are several seperated solids in model. In this case, please pre-select the face in the solid which you would like to see the flat pattern, and create flat pattern, the result will be the one you want to see.

Hope it helpful for you!

Thanks that one seems to work well, except you have to delete the flat pattern if you want any other views which isn't favorable if you're making .idw of them, unless I am missing something there?

Acctually this modesl includes multiple solids, and we recommend that you convert the sheet metal to part, and make it as multiple solid body, that you should be able to see multiple solid bodies in browser. Now please push the multiple solid bodies or derive it to multiple part file which should contain one solid. So you could convert the generated part file to sheet metal and create flat pattern, even create drawing view for the sheet metal and flat pattern.

When the model is updated, the part file derived from model will be updated, and the drawing view should be associative too.

Thanks,
River
