Failed Installation aborted, Result=1603

(Inventor 2009 Pro)

Cant install Content Center or ADMS on a new computer with a fresh install of XP SP3 (go figure)

* Yes, I've searched these boards for "error 1603" and have done what most of them wanted to be done (except I dont believe changing the admin password to blank has anything to do with it)

* Using NOD32, its disabled, I made sure it will never ever ever even think about looking at port 80

* No firewall

* Logged in as an admin with full admin rights

* no previous copies of any Autodesk products installed (this is a fresh install people)

* Framework.net 2.0 and service packs installed

* Framework.net 3.0 and service packs installed

* Framework.net 3.5 installed

I have no experience with NOD32, however, many AV programs
will still have processes running in th ebackground after disabling
them.

Here's some addl info that might help:

Hi,

please attach the log file of Autodesk Date
Management Server 2009 Installer in %temp%.

try to install SQL 2005 directly, you can find it
in DVD2\Support\SqlExpress

Dennis, Yes, disabling NOD32 doesn't remove it's process (ekrn.exe) and ekrn.exe is un-removable within the task manager. If I was to end process, it will start itself back up with a second, and I'm gona be in big trouble if I'm forced to uninstall anti-virus software to install Inventor.

John E, The harddrive is not substituted, compressed or mounted drive, just a 80gb sata2, NTFS format, and one partition.

Kevin, I couldn't find the log file your discribing. The log files I have are:
AcadmInv2009SWLInstall.log (file too big to attach)
AOEMView 2009 Setup.log (file too big to attach)
Autodesk Inventor Professional 2009 Setup.log (posted at top of page)
DWGVIEWRInstall.log (file too big to attach)
Inventor2009Install.log (file too big to attach)

I attempted to manualy install SQL 2005 from DVD2 and after it passed the 13 requirements (or so) it then failed.

MSXML6 = setup failed.
SQL Setup supprot files = setup finished
SQL Native Client = setup finished
SQL VSS Writer = setup finished
SQL Server Database Services = setup failed.

All of this....................... is so I can insert a screw in an assembly. 😞

You will probably have to uninstall the antivirus to make the
install work. I have had to do this with Norton and AVG on extreme cases. You
should be able to re-install if you have the SN.

Dennis, thanks for the tips, but alas, I uninstalled the antivirus, uninstalled everything SQL related (and updates) within the add-remove programs, rebooted and still fails trying to install ADMS (talking to our tech support now)

Very true. I had almost same problem on Vista 64 - all same symptoms except error was 1067 Finally abandon it and went to XP64. Some people suggested installing SQL 2008 instead of 2005. Never tried this.

Well, looks like I cant even install Microsoft SQL server 2005 straight from their web site. Once I can get around this, Inventor should be all set.

Hi, tomofnnh

It shows that the failure was caused by the SQL Server 2005 Express, but I'm not sure yet. Would you please try to copy the SQL Server 2005 Express Standalone installer to your local harddisk and check if you can install it successfully?

While you install SQL Server 2005 Express, please make sure to rename to SQL instance to "AutodeskVault". Of cause, please remember your sa password, which will be used to install the Inventor CC library.

If you can install the SQL Server 2005 Express successfully, then you can try to execute our Server installer.

Please let me know if you have any further question or problems.

Regards,
Frank

[Day 3]

Frank,

* I drag and dropped the SQL server 2005 setup from disk 2 of 4 and ran it from the harddrive, no luck.
* Downloaded SQL server 2005 express from microsoft itself, no luck. (see attached pic)
* Renamed the SQL instance to "AutodeskVault" and changed the "sa" password from default to "password1", no luck
* removed the admin and all user accounts from the PC
* removed all SQL related items within Add/remove programs....except MSXLM 6 refused to uninstall

Here is the last part of my SQLSetup0009_ST5386_MSXML 6_1.log file:
