I think I know the answer, but would rather open my mouth and appear a fool then keep it closed and leave any doubt.
Can I export from IV 2013 directly to NX? I've seen several documents indicating there is some degree of "interoperability," but I don't see NX/UG/.prt as an export option. So, is NX import only?
Most software works on the import of differnt formats. They may be able to open Inventor files if their software package is newer than what they are importing.
The best is just to export to a neutral format.
They just switched from Catia 5 to NX 7.5 and they cannot import my Inventor files directly. I can continue to send them Catia files, just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something as I see the NX/UG Translation Add-In - I guess it's import only.
Thanks.
Hi MikahBarnett3563,
Appreciate your report in this forum!!!
About Inventor 2013 software, your guess is correct that NX import is only supported. I also suggest to use the neutral file format say export your Inventor file to IGES or STEP then open it in NX7.5 as a workaround.
And for your question, the answer is Yes says NX7.5 cannot import Inventor files directly and it can open CATIA V5 files directly. So this is the second way you can choose.

Hi LOONYLEN,
Inventor 2012 cannot import NX9 version, it only support to NX7.5 and Inventor 2015 can import NX9 version, other format version support can refer to attached document.
Answer to second question is Yes.
Regards,
There is no ability to Save-As to a older version, due to some features can't be save backwards and re-created in older versions. The only way would be to export the Inventor model to a neutral format such as a STEP or IGES file and then import this into the software we wish to use.
Hi LOONYLEN,
My answer is same with blair.
