Export template back to AutoCAD

Hi,

I have an AutoCAD template where I've import in my Inventor DWG and put some model parameters in it. Whenever I export it as AutoCAD DWG suddenly the template will have these editing changes. With the original unexported AutoCAD template (right side in the snapshot) I can just type the datas directly in the box but on the exported template from inventor I still need to do couple of things to input/change datas. Is there any way to enable the quick edit option?

Problems exist because there are solutions to find out.

I might not understand your issue completely, but if you are taking an AutoCAD .dwg file (checking now but I don't believe Inventor can work with a .dwt) and using that to create an Inventor drawing (regardless of file extension at this point) and then saving that back out as an AutoCAD .dwg file, then my recommendation would be to avoid using an AutoCAD .dwg as an Inventor template and instead create an actual Inventor .idw template and use that to export to AutoCAD.

Sorry I don't have any experience in that area, due to various reasons and recommendations I've always created Inventor templates "from scratch" or within Inventor itself and avoided using Acad .dwg files as a basis for an Inventor template.

In my experiences, there has always been issues attempting to use an Acad .dwg file to base an Inventor .idw template off of.

There is nothing wrong with using an Inventor .dwg file as your template.  We did this at my last company and it worked fine with iproperties and in and out of Vault.  But, like it has been suggested, I would create this template file with in Inventor and not import an Autocad .dwg file to start with.

The fact that the template came from AutoCAD in the first place doesn't really have anything to do with the issue you are seeing.  The cause is that when you export anything from Inventor that has prompted text, it comes in as a multiline attribute, which requires the extra editing button you mention.

This would happen on an Inventor export to AutoCAD even if the title block was originally created in Inventor.  Happens with Inventor symbols as well (which was where I first learned about it).  You have to fix this in AutoCAD - as far as I know there is no fix on the Inventor side (the problem doesn't actually exist until after the export to AutoCAD).

Look into how to convert multiline attributes to single-line attributes.  It's been a while since I needed to do it, but I believe it required a LISP program.

Thanks for all the replies. I guess I should make an idw template for the
mean time.
