Existing sketch to symbol

Is there a way to turn an existing sketch into a symbol, in an idw, so that it can be reused?

You can accomplish this as follows:

  1. Edit the sketch you wish to turn into a symbol.
  2. Select everything that you wish to be part of the symbol.
  3. RMB and select COPY
  4. Open your template file
  5. RMB on SKETCHED SYMBOLS in the browser and select DEFINE NEW SYMBOL
  6. Paste what you have copied into the sketch
  7. Save the new symbol with your desired name.
  8. Save your template file.

Seems tedious, but it has worked for us in the past.

Hi!

You can also turn it into a block and save it it a dwg file (library file).

Then you can use it everytime you want to place the symbol in the drawing.
