Error While Saving Assembly

[WARNING] Problems encountered while saving the document.
[r:\core\Fw\Main\FWxSceneDoc.cpp, line 1431]
[ERROR] Error(s) detected while writing segment AmDcSegment in database
C:\Work In Progress\Small Batch Sheller Parts Manual\sh31.iam
[r:\core\RSe\segment\segStream.cpp, line 242]
[ERROR] Error detected while saving object of type RDxOccurrence
[r:\core\RSe\meta\meta.cpp, line 967]
[ERROR] Internal error in persistence operation (Segment loading
is not supported within other persistence operations)
[ERROR] The database in C:\Work In Progress\Small Batch Sheller Parts
Manual\sh31.iam could not be saved
[r:\core\RSe\database\databaseC.cpp, line 1195]

This is the error that I get when saving an assembly once I add another
subassembly to the top level assembly. Any Ideas from the pros on the cause
or solution to this error.

TIA,

Mark

Well...here is what I have tried so far. Before I left work that is....

1. Try to save with no changes to the big assembly.....works fine
2. Try to add a different part to the assembly (different from the offending
one mentioned below).......crash (same error message)
3. Create new project file that references the same assembly and associated
folders (purchased parts...etc...)and try to add a previously non-offending
part.....crash (same error message)
4. Install SP1 for Win XP (A blind cry for help).....crash (same error
message)

This was a bad day at work.....the computer this is happening on is a bran
spanking new dell 530 dual 1.8 xenon with 1 GB Ram and a quadro 4 900 xgl
with the appropriate (iv certified) drivers installed....the boss purchased
two of these 530's on my recommendation and they are making me look BAD...

I am planning on reinstalling inventor in the morning if I do not get any
suggestions and hope that something was wrong with the install...

This message was just a little more background to shine some light on the
situation and help anyone to understand and hopefully give some helpful
hints.

Thanks,

Mark

Mark,
We have experienced similar problems with some derived assemblies here.
Do you have any derived parts in your assembly? If so, I've found that
opening the parent part and doing a "Rebuild All" (Tools>Rebuild All) seems
to work.

If you do NOT have any derived parts, can you do a Rebuild on the
assembly itself and save?

I've forwarded several of these to our VAR, who has sent me back replies
from Adesk - they have said that it will be fixed in the SP due in the next
week or so. In the meantime, if you cannot do the save (or even if the
Rebuild option works for you) send it to your VAR and insist that they fix
it. I love this product, but incidents like this make me understand why
some post-ers have reverted to R5.3 in the meantime...

Hope this helps.

Alan

I have received similar errors while saving assemblies - (with no derived
parts).

One was a new assembly - only 2 sub-assemblies inserted. Both
sub-assemblies can be edited and saved separately without any problems - but
insert into a new assembly - problems.

Well....good news....this morning I went through and did a rebuild all on
each sub-assembly and then the main assembly and could add the offending
sub-assembly with no saving problems....wierd....is this the answer for all
such cases?

Thanks for all the suggestions,

Mark

It seems to be, until the SP anyway. Glad it worked for you!
