Error 1321 installing SP1

I'm getting an error installing SP1 for IV 2010. See attached screen shot.

How do you adjust Windows Installer Privileges?
Any idea how to fix this so I can install?

You need to be logged in as someone with "Administrator" privileges and the
problem should go away.

Blair,
I am the administrator. I'm the only one who ever used this computer other
than the original builder (IX Computers). Never had this happen with a SP
install before. I also tried downloading the SP1 file & running it from my
computer instead of the Auto install. Still got same problem.

I searched the web & found a relevant Microsoft registry fix for CD ROM
drive security setting (install requires reading IV 2010 Disc 1 DVD) . But
my registry was already correct per the fix, so that wasn't it.

I can't find anything else on this.

Gary

Gary,

In the readme we mentioned this paragraph
...

Your Operating System should be up to date with respect to service packs and security updates.
On Microsoft Vista, KB952696 is particularly important for the successful installation and running of Autodesk Inventor 2010

...

Did you install this Microsoft update http://support.microsoft.com/kb/952696 prior to installing Sp1?

Bob,

I'm using using Windows XP, not Vista.

Gary,

We are wondering how you applied SP1.

From the bitmap you sent us we see that the location of
the adlmact_libFNP.dll file is somewhere on the Y: drive.

And another question:

Can you retry the install and when you run in these
type of error dialogs, thhey mean the installer cannot decrypt the
files.

One possible workaround that I see is to pay
attention to the location where this happens and then do the
following.

I take your example of the dll
called

Y:\x86\Inventor\program Files\Common Files
Folder\Autodesk Shared\Adlm\R1\admact_libFNP.dll

In this case I would check the properties of
admact_libFNP.dll or even the properties of the folder R1 the file sits
in.

Go to the "Advanced" button in the Properties
dialog

Chances are that you will see that the "Encrypt
contents to secure data" checkbox is checked like in attached
image.

Uncheck the encrypt checkbox.

Then press the Retry button on the Inventor
dialog.

Let me know what your results are.

Thanks

Bob

Re: Error 1321 installing SP1

Bob,

I did not merge to an admin image. It was a standard SP
install attempt, nothing fancy. I'm a stand-alone user, no
network.

I attempted to install SP1 2 ways (always turning off
Antivirus & all programs):

First I just used the automated PS1 from the Communication
Center & just followed the instructions.

I attempted it probably 5 times with same error result.

Second I downloaded the SP1 from Autodesk site & followed
the instructions but just left the IV 2010 DVD Disc 1 in the drive this time
rather than wait to be prompted. (BTW-The IV Install disc 1 never attempted
to install automatically). I tried this a couple times with same
result.

My Y: drive is the DVD drive & the file referenced in the
error message  I assumed to be the one Inventor needs on the Disc 1 to
verify I have a licensed copy.
Why would SP1 try to
modify it?

Does that help?

Gary

Bob,

I just looked at the Inventor Disc 1 with Windows Explorer
& I cannot find the path reference in the Error Message (see
screenshot).

Any clues?

Hi Gary,

we never encounter error 1321 on XP OS, what about
click the Retry button? can you continue to install? if it cannot pass
by "Retry", Cancel it, try to install SP1 again. still encounter
it?

if you still failed to install SP1, please
reinstall your Inventor first, then try to install SP1 again.
