Drawing Transfer Wizard Fails....

I've reviewed prior posts on the NG related to R11 SP2 and I've failed to
find an answer to this issue.

1. I have NO instances of Invenentor.exe running prior to launching Drawing
Transfer Wizard 11.

2. I select the source idw with no issues. I'm transferring everything from
some R9 templates for a customer. These files contain layers not present in
the R11 original templates.

3. I select a new (blank) idw created from an Inventor 11 standard template.
Pick next.

I get this error every time... anyone?

I would try migrating the R9 file first.

Side question ... have you noticed the Inventor.exe still running after
you have finished running the wizard? I find it still running even
after successful wizard operation.

I tried the 9 to 10, but the customer template was at R11 level. However, I
fopund that the template was corrupted. another worked OK in DTW R11.

Inventor.exe left running after DRTW quits was addressed in 2008.

That's good to hear. We still have about 500 or so files that need to
be updated with our new titleblocks and drafting standards after our
merger last year.

Hi, this looks like exactly what I want to do. I have all line weight settings set up in the template, and want only the line weights of new views to update to multiple idw's. but the only setings I find in the wizard are for border, title block and sketched symbols. Are you saying there is a way to get the layers transfered as well? Could someone please tell me how.

Hi terje.antonsen,

Layers are part of the styles collection, and so you would use the Styles and Standards Editor to make the changes, and the Style Library Managerto batch update a group of drawings:

Styles and Standards Editor

Style Library Manager

I hope this helps.
Best of luck to you in all of your Inventor pursuits,
