Default Sketch Coordinate System

Whenever I create a sketch on an origin plane it defaults the sketch coordinate system to align with +Z as toward the top of the screen (except YX which Y is 'upwards'). When I select to sketch on XZ (top side), it rotates the sketch around such that the 'front side' is at the top of my screen. Additionally, when I select to sketch on ZY (right side) it does the same rotation, putting the 'front side' at the top of my screen. As a result, I always use the Edit Coordinate System button to change the orientation to what I want ('front' to left on 'right' side, 'front' to bottom on 'top'side).

Is there a way to change this default behavaior such that Y upwards is preferred over Z upwards and X rightwards is preferred over Z upwards?

Note that the default coordinates for the YX (front) plane are as I would put then (right to the right, top to the top).

Additionally note that the sketch is always put on the + side of the plane, so changing the ZX to be front would result in the + side of plane facing the wrong direction.

Thanks,

 - Jonathan

If you start a new sketch in a part and choose the “XY Plane” from the origin folder, does your coordinate system use the right hand rule such that the Y is facing upward and X is to the right? If not, please send us your template file so we can take a look at it. Thank you.

Yes, the sketch plane is set for +Y as up and +X to the right.
