Custom Materials Library, External Rules ; Where to store them ?

Hello
I plan to move iLogic rules and custom materials to centralized place in order to ease their management. no issue this that.

But, where is the best place to put these centralized resources ?

  • ~\Design Data\Materials for custom materials library ?
  • ~\Design Data\iLogic\Rules for external rule ?
  • or a complete independent folder ?

What about updates when Design Data folder will be updated during next Inventor release ?
knowing that Design data will be uploaded and managed thanks to Vault ( into a folder just below project's root).

Can you share you knowledge/background on that

it will help me a lot

thank you

Regards,

Aurélien

In your case, I suggest you store the data into ~\design data\materials, it’s better for moving data from user to user and also when migrating to a new release. The same is valid for the iLogic data. If it’s operated with Vault, notice: download all files to ~\design data\materials and replace the exist ones.

The best thing to do is setting all library data to be based on the file-tree in Vault project setting, thus, all client machines will have the same setting.
