Create part in assembly oddity??

Since R7 whenever I create a part in an assembly I have to return from the
part and re-enter it to be able to edit the sketch. The attachment shows
the toolbar state after I have picked the face to create the part on.
Has anyone else noticed this??

Yes I've just worked out why it happens.

I normally have the "No new sketch" in Sketch on New Part Creation under the
Options - Part. My normal templates then work OK - they already have a
sketch in them and my derived part template also works. This doesn't have a
sketch which I don't want for derived parts.
When I turn this option back on then the Create in place component works as
it used to.
Guess I'll just have to delete the unnecessary sketch when creating derived
parts.

Rob,

There should be no unnecessary sketch. It is cleaned up automatically as
long as the template does not have a sketch pre-defined.

Create a new part (with create sketch option on)
Get out of the sketch enviroment (hit S... the sketch is listed in Browser)
Derive in a part and notice that the sketch has disappeared.
