I have a STL mesh file which I want to make solid for 3 D printing .
I installed Autodesk 'Mesh Enabler' and ran.
THe result is an ipt file which lookd like a shell.
I do not know if it is a solid for 3D printing and I there is no option to save as stl solid.
My copy of 'Mesh Enabler expires Dec 31, 2013.

Hi Terry,
Sorry to hear that you're having trouble, although I'm unaware of anything called 'solid STL'. Does this link help describe the STL file format?
Paul Munford has done a writeup of the conversion process from STL to solid using the Mesh Enabler, perhaps that could be useful but please feel free to write back if you need anything further.
Thanks,
Indy
Can you zip and attach the original stl file here?
Hi Terry,
If you're having problems attaching the file here can you try emailing it to me?
