Convert Library parts into reular parts

Is it possible to create a part using the Inventor Library
and then convert it into a regular part which can be modified.

For example I creat an M10 hex Nut from the Inventor Library and save it
as something logical like M10HexNut instead of Local1800123....

I now open the newly created file and I find all the features are greyed out
and can't
be edited.

No one has found a reliable way that I know of.

Sam,

Have you tried exporting the file in STEP or SAT format and then importing
that file back into Inventor?
