Hi lis_wang,

Currently Inventor version has no ability to convert its assembly to FBX format directly, but this is a user requirement which we will consider.

Workaround I thought in my mind is to use Inventor to export the assembly to IGES/STEP, open IGES/STEP in 3D Max or Maya, then export it to FBX format.

If I converted the assembly file into step file, then all the constrains will be gone.

no matter what you do your going to lose the inventor contraints

you have to recontrain using the 3ds max tools

Thanks. I will constrain my assembly file in 3dMax

Is it necessary to convert from Inventor to IGES/STEP before opening in 3dsmax?  What's wrong with opening in 3dsmax directly from the Inventor files?

Yeah! 3DS Max can directly import the Inventor assembly file, then export it to FBX.

Hi,

I was trying to export fbx file from inventor professional 2022. I tried installing autodesk inventor fbx tool but it shows 3Ds max 2018.4 required to run the program. Is there any way to export fbx file using inventor?

If you have access to Fusion 360, FBX export is possible from there, after opening Inventor files or a STEP from there.

I'd suggest STEP, because the whole assembly is placed in a single file.

On the other hand: What's the benefit of FBX? It's a mesh format, similar as STL or OBJ.

I don't have an Oculus Quest 2 or any other VR device, because of minor view capability on one eye.

But I could see, that importing OBJ files seems to be possible, too. Perhaps a more straightforward way for Inventor data.
