Content center favorites pane is empty...

I am new to Inventor so I'm sure there is an easy fix.

I would like to insert a wideflange steel profile into my .ipt drawing.

I thought I would use Content Center for this. However on the left model tree pane I select the 'Model' drop down menu and select 'Favorites'. 'Content Center' is listed but there are no content center components shown?

Am I using this feature correctly?

I believe my content center is installed correctly because I can 'Place from Content Center' in a new .iam file within the same project.

Thank you for your help.

You have to find the content you want and put it in the favorites.

Thank you for the prompt reply John,

Is there a tutorial on how to add Favorites? I can create a new group but I do not see how to add anything to my favorites. I keep trying to just SEE what is in my content center but it appears to be missing.

Or better yet a tutorial on how to insert a steel profile from content center into an .ipt file?

Thank you again.

A picture is worth a thousand words. I attached a screen capture of what I see when I select Favorites and Content Center. As you can see the "tree" is blank. I would expect to see all my content center items listed here.

Are you showing anything when you are not on the favorites tab?

Hello John,

If I am NOT on the 'Favorites' tab my only other option is the 'Model' tab and yes, I see my full model tree when I am on the 'Model' tab.

Still not sure how to just view the content center files. I'm sure i'm missing something stupid here.

See attached screen shot.

In your assembly, pick the arrow next to Place Component, then select Place From Content Center.

Hello John,

I am trying to place a 2D steel profile in a part file not an assembly file. I was hoping to use the content center as a quick way of placing 2D steel shapes that I can extrude. This would save me the hassle of drawing them out manually.

Thanks again for all your assistance.

Content center is for placing fasteners and such in assemblies.

Maybe Frame Generator is what you need.
