Content Center can't share files

Dear All,

We have a problem with Content Center. Assembly which was made on one computer using some CC files cannot be opened on another computer because it can't find files that are from the CC!? It is very strange since this should be the basic functionality of CC...

Does anyone had similar issues, so we can make a starting point in resolving this?

Thank you.

Is your CC installed on each machine or shared on a server?

Hi,

It is on a Vault Server.

Hi,

Please make sure the "Autodesk Vault Server" option is selected from Tools > Application Options > Content Center > Access Options region in Inventor.

Thanks,

Most common reason for non-sharing of Content Center generated members
is that the destination for the generated files is not set to a network
shareable location. Check Application Options >> File AND your Project
File > Folder Options configuration.

A more complete article on how Content Center works will be covered in
the Late February issue of "The Creative Inventor Magazine" available below:

Hello everyone,

Thank you all for your replies.

And yes, Dennis is right. App. Options -> File -> Default CC files should be network shared location (the same for all networked users), because every part used from Vault is copied on that location. Now I'm asking myself what is the purpose of the Vault then… but, the thing was that everything worked just fine before we upgraded our systems to Windows 7, and now I’m guessing that our local App. Data files were on some Public folder, so we had no such problems. And it was so strange to me that it didn’t work now.

Anyway, now we all know the catch. 🙂

You never mentioned Vault in your original post. If you are set up
correctly, the generated Content Center file members are checked into
the Vault, just like Workspace folders. ADMS Content Center databases
are independent of the Vault databases.

1. You can use Vault without ADMS Content Center.
2. You can use ADMS Content Center without using the Vault.

I would never advise on your situation without personally seeing how
things are configured.
