I am using Inventor 2013. I was thinking that the easiest way would be to make some sort of grid on the surface of the sphere to constrain the helices to but I can't figure out how to do that. I also have Maya on my computer so if you think it would be easier to form the parts to scale in inventor and move them to Maya for assembly I can do that.
