...Component Patterns...

I have a normal assembly that contains several component patterns. Is there a way to 'break' the pattern yet leave all the individual parts in place? At this point I'm not really concerned about the constraints. I am using IV2009 with the latest updates.

Thank you

John

In the browser, select the elements, right-click
and select Independent. This will place a copy of the component on top of the
pattern element and suppress the pattern element.

You can shift-select or ctrl-select multiple
elements.

You cannot make Element 1 independent. If it is
part of the selection set, then the Independent option will not be
available.

Well duh John. I knew I had seen the 'independent' option before. My problem is that I tried selecting element #1. Like you pointed out, this component does not have the independent option. Thank you Patrick for your help.

Of course it's documented in the Help. I'd
recommend going to the index or search for something this granular. Or use the
wiki (scroll down to procedures here:
href="http://wikihelp.autodesk.com/Product_Help/Autodesk_Inventor/Autodesk_Inventor_2011/104Assembl...
)

To answer the question, Isolate turns off the
visibility of all components except those in the selection set. The idea is if
you have 1000 components in your assembly and want to work on 10 of them, select
those 10 and use Isolate to turn off the rest. The alternative is to select 990
component and turn off Visibility.
