Change default

I installed IV2012 with English. How can I change the default unit to Metric without reinstall?

Make a template file and in the TOOLS tab click on DOCUMENT SETTINGS.  On the UNITS tab change the units to the metric units.  After accepting all the changes, save the template file.  When you start a new file use the template file you just created as a starting point.

I believe Inventor should already have some metric templates that you should be able to select after clicking on the NEW button.

To elaborate on what Stuart said I would start from the metric templates and then Save Copy as Template and replace the default

or

go to the template file locations and copy over the metric templates to the default location and then rename to the default names.
