HI.

How Can i chamfer an Edge Partially? (Not Total Length)

Hi,

Maybe you could consider the workflow below -

1. Create one work plane, which is intersected with the edge

2. Split the part to two bodies using the workplane

3. Pick the edge in one body to create chamfer

4. Combine two bodies to one part

Please see the attached image as one example to know the workflow.

Thanks,

or do a sweep cut of a triangle profile along the edge?

If the edge is only in 1 plane then create a sketch on that plane and draw the sweep's path, defining how far along the edge to chamfer

Or, if the edge is curved, requiring a 3d sketch to define the sweep's path, use the split tool and instead of splitting the entire part in 2 then just split the face, which should allow the shortened edge to be projected in the 3d sketch.  (but, I admit, this method might give "funky" results as the triangular profile might not follow the curve exactly and twist a little, resulting in an uneven chamfer).

There's usually more than 1 way to skin the animal...

Or even a plain old extrusion of a triangular profile, depending on what your trying to accomplish.
