Center point

I created sketch1 by projecting geometry to the center point. Then added a
horizontal, a vertical center line, and a rectangle and constrained the
sketch1. Then created a face feature, using sketch1. I created sketch28, by
selecting the face. The center line is now located at
-1.5125 (not on grid), 1.2000 on the grid. I planned to use the same
vertical and horizontal center lines to locate holes on the face feature.
But it is not on the center of the grid and not on grid. I have snap to grid
selected. Is there a method for moving the center point back to o.ooo, o.ooo
on the grid (the heave grid lines) see file in CF. Your help please. Bob

I think I understand but if not then forgive me........unconstrain the
horizontal and vertical ref lines then dimension them from the projected
geometry......this will then constrain them to that geo.

I would make Sketch1 visible, edit Sketch28 and Project the desired lines
from Sketch1 onto Sketch28.

What is the point of using a grid and how does snapping to a grid in Inventor constrain the sketch?

Yes, I know that you cannot constrain to grid lines. In sketch I dimensioned
off of the grid origin, 0.000,0.000. dimensioning left or right up or down
from the origin or in sketch1, the center point as indicated by the white
dot, when you select center point in the browser. My plan was to create
sketch28 as an overlay to and in the same location as sketch1; so I could
dimension additional features form the same grid origin or center point. If
you select the center point in sketch28, you will see that the center point
has moved off of the grid origin. Also the center point is not on grid or
located on the grid origin as it is in sketch1 hand I like to use the
readout at the bottom of the screen, as a help in placing the dimensions. If
I place an vertical and horizontal center line on the grid origin and using
a coincident constraint; select the center lines and select to grid origin
or center point and the center lines change color, does that not constrain
the center lines to the origin? If geometry is projected to the center point
and the centerlines are constrained to that point and sketch1 is dimensioned
to the center point; why does the center point and sketch1 move off of the
grid origin, when I create sketch28 and is there a method to get then back
on the grid origin? Thanks again, Bob
