I created a seemingly simple contour flange, and cut away a 890" radius. However, when I try to create the flat pattern, it gives me the message:
440-006.ipt: Errors occurred during update
440-006.ipt (Flat Pattern): Errors occurred during update
Definition1: Could not build this FlatPattern
The attempted operation did not produce a meaningful result. Try with different inputs.
Could anyone please take a look at this and see if I am missing something simple?

I suppressed your extrusion and a flat pattern was created with no issues,
You have to make that extrusion/cut differently. Inventor doesn't like that extrusion

What version of Inventor are you using?
Have you installed all Service Packs and Hotfixes?
You actually have a problem earlier in your feature tree (drag the EOF above Flange12 and then back down).
I would model your part quite differently, but since I have later release you would not be able to open my file.
I got this to work, might not be the best way,
I created a sketch bottom of the sheet metal piece, project your circle from sketch 2, projected the flat pattern from the sheet metal piece, finished the sketch loop and then cut..
Flat pattern was generated

Try this hope you have 2012 Inventor if not I will explain what to do..
This is a prime example why Inventor needs normal cut...

I am using 2013, and have installed all of the service packs, etc. I will double check to make sure I haven't missed one.

Credit goes to Mr. Letcher, he showed me a few posts ago, about projecting the flat pattern onto a sketch in order to cut across a bend of a sheet metal part and generate a flat pattern afterwards.
Inventor is picky when it comes to adding features that include those bends.
After looking at his part he uploaded, looks like we had the same idea when adding the cut to that part.
