Can you embed excel after linked

I have a part which is linked to an excel spread sheet. Now I would like
that spread sheet embedded. Is that possible?

The only way I know to do this is long and nasty:

1. RMB on each param in the params menu and choose Add to user params.
They will be moved to user params
2. After each one has been added then RMB on the excel sheet in the browser
and delete
3. Change each of the user param names to something else (e.g. length to
length2)
4. Reinsert the Excel sheet and embed
5. In the params menu make the value of the user params length2 for example
= to the name of the embedded param (e.g. length2=length)

I told you it was nasty. If anyone has a better suggestion I'm all ears...

Boy when you say long and nasty you mean long and nasty.
I don't want to do this too often.

Thanks anyway.

for starters, instead of your step #1 you can RMB on the folder heading and
select delete folder which will take all the params and make them User
params in one shot.

Secondly, I managed to accomplish what we're after, but alas, I can't
reproduce it. It had something to do with using the inserting an object from
the Insert pulldown before removing the link to the spreadsheet. The params
somehow magically jumped from the referencing the link to referencing the
embed. I'll see if I can figure it out.

Thanks for the tip on #1. I'll file that one away.

If you figure out how to get the second part to work be sure to let me know.
I've tried many ways before but could never get it to work...

I tried and tried then went back to the example that worked and realized
that it hadn't worked, sorry for the false hopes. I'll go clean the egg off
my face now.
