Because Inv does not recognize it as sheet metal.

Look in the browser, you see a "Base1" solid. No folded model, so no flat pattern.

it might have been a sheet metal part in SW where it came from, but now
in Inventor it's still just a dumb solid without any *Inventor* features.

You'll probably have to redo this using Inventors sheet metal tools.

You might check out JD's AU video on translations.

You might be able to fix it.

Hi! The thickness entered is not precise. The actual thickness on the model is 0.79375mm but the thickness setting is set to 0.794 mm. Please edit the Sheet Metal Rules and change the thickness to 0.79375mm and the flat pattern will work correctly.
Thanks!

Thanks! I look pretty stupid for not thinking of that but I had! And for some reason even when selecting all decimals I was only getting .794. Mystery!

Shouldn't matter (and in this case doesn't) if it is a base solid.

Well that is strange. That is the first thing I tried and I got .794

Then after Johnson posted I tried again and got his results. Time to go home.

The default display precision in Measure tool is set to 3 decimal places. That could explain why you are seeing 0.794 as opposed to 0.79375. I set it to All Decimal to see the true value.
Thanks!

Well, now I have my flat pattern so I'm a happy camper. Thanks everyone for the help and have a good weekend.
