Can't change circular pattern

I have modelled a disc, which has 6 cylindrical extrusions in a circular pattern on the disc surface. I want to change the number of occurrences (the "placement") to 9 but the "OK" button is disabled. I get the preview od the 9 occurrences, but it will not complete the command.

It would pay to upload the part.  Circular patterns at the sketch and feature levels work differently, so we'd need to see exactly how you've created it to be able to help.

I went back to the point just after I created the original circular pattern (because I had added more extrusions) and it worked! Not sure why

If you are not sure why it worked - you should attach the file here so that someone could examine and explain the logic.
