Can not extrude a pattern sketch that is fully constrained

Hi l am using Inventor 2013 l can not extrude a fully constrained sketch. l done a 2D profile then used the circle Patten command to complete the profile in the sketch. Now l can not extrude the sketch and do not know why? l have attached the file to see if anyone can help.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Regards

Darren

Is it something to do with your sketch pattern?

Have you closed the loop properly?

If you create a new sketch and project your previous sketch onto this, can you then extrude the projected sketch?

Welcome to the Forum!

Sketch patterns do not automatically connect endpoints, so you basically have a lot of disconnected loops.

You might try going at it differently, making a cylinder shape first and removing a single "tooth" then make a pattern of that single extrusion.

Why did you create the outer arcs as two arcs rather than one?

Edit the sketch and right mouse button select Show All Constraints.  What do you see?

In the browser right click on the sketch and select Sketch Doctor.  Diagnose the sketch and run through the repair.

Is noted - it is (almost) always better to model simple geometry and pattern the feature rather than pattern sketch entities.

I will try to post a couple of alternative techniques later today when I get to my 2013 machine.

Extrude and pattern this.
