Best way to share parameters between parts in an assembly?

If I have parts in an assembly that would like to use the same parameter, what is the best way to do this?  I am using AI 2013.  Currently I know how to create a base part and using it to derive other parts from it, but this seems there should be a easier way, is there?

Thanks,

Bob

Hi

The method I use it to link my master part in the assembly. (Similar to derive in part mode)

- Click parameters.

- Select Link

- Change file type to *.ipt, *.iam

- choose file

you can then choose the parameters you wish to use.

Hope this helps.
