Batch solution for IDW files that cannot be viewed with Volo View?

In knowledge base article TS68955 dated May 31, 2002, Autodesk acknowledges
a problem with some IDW files when being viewed with Volo View 2 or Volo
View Express 2.
Autodesk noted that if an IDW file contains a title block that includes the
filename and Volo View 2 reports an error when reading the file, you can use
the following procedure to work around the problem:

1.. Open the drawing in Autodesk Inventor 5.
2.. Delete the file name from the title block and recreate it.
3.. Save the drawing.
The problem is that I have several hundred such files and this will be very
time consuming to correct. I desperately need some sort of batch style
solution to correct the problem en masse rather than a file at a time.

Has Autodesk developed such a solution or can anyone suggest one?

The files were created using Inventor 5 although the original drawing
template was created in Release 4 and migrated to Release 5. I have tried
migrating these files to Release 5.3 but the problem persists. Any
suggestions would be sincerely appreciated.

Michael

There is a service pack coming out next week. It should cure your problems.

Thank you for responding!

Is the service pack for Inventor 5.3 or Volo View?

Sincerely,

Michael
