Hey guys:
I'm trying to make an test stand adapter for a customer that would replicate a regular production mating part. My customer provided me with the released production drawing of that part and I was able to use the Inventor spline generator to find the specific spline that is needed. It happens to be an ANSI B92.1, 30deg, Flat Root, Side Fit spline. 20T, pitch diam 2.500".
I generated the spline, put the data table on a drawing and off I went. We turned and milled all of the outside features and went to have the internal teeth wired in. My EDM guy tells me that there's quite a difference between the part geometry that I gave him and the table data on the print. So we dug into it and did an overlay of the two geometries (AutoCAD drawing attached).
So after review, we know that Inventor's data table matches the ANSI data, which matches the tables and geometry generated by my EDM vendor's 3rd party specialized gear software package. However, the actual geometry generated on the Inventor part model doesn't match this stuff, which you can see in the attachment.
Can anyone provide any insight into this situation? Thanks!
I cannot comment as to why there is a difference. This is all done via hard code calculations within the software background and there is not really any adjustments that can be made. Your question really needs to be commented on from QA or Development staff here for the questioning of the Standard information given. My only though is if you feel this is in error please consider logging an enhancement request to correct.
If you would like to enter a wish list item asking for this to be considered as an enhancement for a future release please use the following link.

Don - I got an email from AutoDesk saying that someone had assigned a case number to this issue and:
"A Specialist will be assigned to work on your case and will be sending you a status update shortly."
So it sounds like someone saw this and is concerned about it. I'll post back here once I've heard from them.
Thanks!
Don -
I have noticed that this ticket has been marked closed, although I was never contacted about it. What happened?
Thank you!
