I'm just starting out with trying to implement BOM's in inventor. Basically at the moment cutting list are hand written to be passed on for manufacture. I mainly create drawings for welded ladder assemblies out of Aluminium. I have currently been placing multiple solid bodies in one .ipt file. I'm struggling to pull the info I'd like out of this file into my BOM in the .dwg file.
To start with I'm only looking for basic info such as:
material section
cut length
cut angle
Qty of each individual item.
Can anyone help achieve this or recommend some reading material?
I've attached a typical .ipt file if that helps.
I'd love for the BOM to show the length of the main chords, uprights and diags.
Below is a screen capture of the BOM as it is. Am I struggling as i have a multibodied .ipt file?
edit: added .iam file and screen shot.
I don't think there is any way to get a real BOM form a single part. You'll need to build this as an assembly to get individual components for the rails, rungs etc.
