Google.."add materials to autodesk inventor"

TONS of tutorials/youtube videos,etc...

If you enjoy the "British/English" accent..

Start with one of the existing Aluminum materials by clicking the edit pencil.

Give it a name.

JD - Thanks again. I am trying to add the information from the matweb.

Material Spec Sheet

I added all the information except the 2 circled. In the following table, its confusing because both header state "Tensile". I want to choose the ones for 72deg F value, but which one goes where?

I was able to fill out all the fields except the 2 circled ones.

The table on the matweb for 6063 T6 is confusing. Both headers show "Tensile". I need to choose the value by th temp 70ish deg F. But which one goes where (below the circled strenghth feilds)

Sometimes the term Ultimate Tensile Strength is shortened to simply Tensile Strength. The value on MatWeb under the Ultimate section should go in the box you have circled red. The value that MatWeb calls Yield should go in the box circled black. It can be confusing, and I'm not really sure why it's done that way, but what can you do?

Thanks a lot for your help Java.

While we are on the topic, When creating new material for 6063T6, I am considering not to alter the values for :

  • Damping Ratio
  • Reduction factor for shear

Does anyone know where to obtain this for the 6063T6 & when would it be useful to modify them?
