I got a response from the CEO to an email I sent them:
"Hi Larry,
We got this email today and someone sent this to us, but I would like thank
who ever sent it as welcomed feedback. Although the product is free, we
want it to be a useful tool that works well. We will correct our web site
to indicate that we have only certified the current released product with V5
Inventor. We are in the process of changing the interface to V6 Apprentice
(which in our experience has been required with every Inventor release so
far). We use Apprentice to give us accuracy with representing the model.
Usually some modification is needed to support newer versions of Apprentice
and the C++ exception is due to an API interface change using V6. This is
just the normal process of keeping two toolsets integrated together the
continue to progress nicely with additional or changed functionality. The
really cool thing is that the folks at Inventor are committed to keep things
open (and free) for companies like us to add value. This isn't something
that all CAD companies get.
I'll send you an email update when we post a new version of the publisher
supporting V6. I thank you for the frank input and again we are very
serious about producing an exceptional tool for web publishing 3D models.
We will address the issue as quickly as we can.
