You don't use copy and paste.

Start a new sketch, you can then import either an image, dwg/dxf or point cloud. (near the end of your sketch toolbar).

If it's simple the common consensus is to just re-draw. that way you don't inherit the CAD modelling errors which can make extrude and the like difficuilt.

I usually import without the auto constraints option first. Then finish sketch, then edit sketch and run sketch doctor. If I still can't produce a closed loop I extrude the lines as surfaces, maybe 10mm, then sticth the surfaces and create a new sketch-project cut edges and get my closed loop.

Look at Autodesk Labs, for the 2D to 3D tool.

Inventor 2020, In-Cad, Simulation Mechanical

Just insert the picture rather than attaching it as a file

You can copy and paste do it all the time to cross checks.

I would never use autocad data personally to make my model but I do use to overlay and check then delete.

To copy and paste just have to be in edit mode on the sketch.

I did add-in utility 2d to 3d tools for inventor 2014, but cannot import the autocad file.

Please attach the file so a team member can try it.
