structured step

Did anybody heared something about a structured step format?

I´ve got an assembly in a structured way with step extension.

For better explanation its like a iam file with subassemblies and part files but with the step extension.

But i can only import the "part steps" successful. The assembly can´t be imported and i´ve never heared about something like this before.

The data is confidential but its from a truck manufacturer company.

Anybody an idea

You can access some import options before you open the STEP file:

To import it as an assembly, uncheck the option called "Import Assembly as Single Part".  This only works if the STEP file was saved with assembly information...
