Hello,
First post I've made; so I'm apologizing if this message is in the wrong place. I'll be as detailed as I can and attach what I have.
Current system is Autodesk Inventor Routed System for 2011.
Current task is to create an assembly including a Cam Lock.
A coworker and I have tried stitching this file. I went into the composite and removed all the faces and tried stitch again. I need the main part in the file. It has the key barrel, lock barrel, nut, lock washer, retainer screw, and straight cam all included into the same body. I don't know how to explode this assembly, and I need to.
If I used the wrong terms for certain commands or parts, it is not on purpose. I went to school for AutoCAD and only had a few lessons with Inventor. So a lot of this is new ground for me. My coworker is going to attempt to bring the same file as a STEP file and use Solid Works to edit its features then export it to Inventor.
I thank everyone for all input in advance.
Duane
I don't have 2011, so some of the screens might look slightly different.
Click on the file to open, but before opening - select Options and set as shown.
Go to the Manage tab and select Make Components.
Expand the Solid Bodies folder in the browser and select the components.
Click Next and OK to push the parts out to assembly.
Right click on any component you wish to move in the assembly and unselect Grounded.
I have almost the same options menu. But when I get to the Data Organization section, I don't have the checkbox for Import into Repair Environment. I think that checkbox then makes the Auto Stitch checkbox visible then as well, correct?
How can I get the Data Organization to allow me to import the file into a Repair Environment?
Thank you for the quick reply!
Duane
I don't think it matters.
Attach your resulting *.ipt file here so that I can see how it imported.
Right click on the Composite and select Copy to Construction.
Drag the red End of Part marker above Sketch1.
Right click on the red EOP and select Delete all below EOP.
Double click on the Construction folder in the browser.
Drill down to the Surfaces node.
Right click on the Surfaces node and select Quality Check.
Right click on the Surfaces node and select Stitch.
Right click on the 10 Solids node and select Quality Check.
Right click on the 10 solids node and select Copy Object.
Select the Multiple Solids option (not sure this option was in the dialog back then).
The item seems the same. Only thing I can select are surfaces. Unless I missed something.
Attach your file here with the geometry still in the Construction Environment (do not Copy Object yet).
Here is information on older release - but I think things have changed for the release you are running.
