"What part of 'Yes To All' don't you understand?!"

...as I mutter under my breath to my monitor ten times a day.

For example, just patterning some fasteners in a large assembly just now. Of course it updates as it goes along, but this message appears:

"1234567.iam is currently locked. Do you wish to continue editing anyway? Your changes will not get saved to the Vault"

My big beef with this is that, like a few of the messages Inventor puts up my screen, it isn't even true. It's not 1234567.iam that I'm editing. 1234567.iam is probably some reference geometry in the model. I'm aware that it's locked in the Vault (Item Master). In fact, that's how it should be. But it doesn't affect what I'm doing at all. So I click "Yes To All". But then, up comes the message:

"1234568.iam is currently locked. Do you wish to continue editing anyway? Your changes will not get saved to the Vault"

So I click Yes To All again. I can be doing this twenty or more times.

It has a variant, of course:

"987654.iam is not checked out. Do you want to check it out now?"

I say No To All to this, because I will explicitly check out any files I want to. But in this case, at least, I have the option of clicking "Don't ask me again this session". With the first message, there is no such opportunity.

Is there any setting that can stop the "locked" message coming up? It is really slowing up my work.

Thanks. Am using IV2008 and Productstream 2009.

Yep; that's what it does all right.  Not
only has this apparently *not* been fixed in 2010, Autodesk apparently considers
it a feature rather than a flaw.  They're aware of it, but I have yet to
see anyone admit that there's anything wrong, and I've seen no indication that
they ever intend to fix it.

This one "as
designed" behavior alone is almost enough to tip the scales
in the frying pan/fire argument and make the pain of switching to the
competition worth it.

To answer the question... the "All"
part...

Thanks for the confirmations, fellas.

You've gotta laugh, Brian...

This gets really annoying with skeletal modeling. If I make a change to the master sketch I have to click "Yes to All" once for every part tied to the sketch. I was hoping this was fixed in 2010 as well.

My beef is the other way around.

Either way Inventor does not understand the "all"
part.  It's the only program I've ever used in the last 20 some years that
cannot properly do this.
