I mutter under my breath to my monitor ten times a day. For example, just
patterning some fasteners in a large assembly just now. Of course it updates
as it goes along, but this message appears: "1234567.iam is currently locked.
Do you wish to continue editing anyway? Your changes will not get saved to the
Vault" My big beef with this is that, like a few of the messages Inventor puts
up my screen, it isn't even true. It's not 1234567.iam that I'm editing.
1234567.iam is probably some reference geometry in the model. I'm aware that
it's locked in the Vault (Item Master). In fact, that's how it should be. But
it doesn't affect what I'm doing at all. So I click "Yes To All". But then, up
comes the message: "1234568.iam is currently locked. Do you wish to continue
editing anyway? Your changes will not get saved to the Vault" So I click Yes
To All again. I can be doing this twenty or more times. It has a variant, of
course: "987654.iam is not checked out. Do you want to check it out now?" I
say No To All to this, because I will explicitly check out any files I want
to. But in this case, at least, I have the option of clicking "Don't ask me
again this session". With the first message, there is no such opportunity. Is
there any setting that can stop the "locked" message coming up? It is really
slowing up my work. Thanks. Am using IV2008 and Productstream
2009.
