Having inserted a parts list into my idw drawing i noticed that one of the colum widths need to be increased,i went to the
edit parts list style and increased the column width, saved it etc.
I expected the column width to increase automatically but it did not.
One way i have found to do this is to reload the parts list, but surely this is not the answer, any suggestions.
When you edit the parts list and RC on the column of choice, you can select this
Then type in the width value and hit "Apply" and it will funnel back to the parts list.

Or just place the parts list and click and drag the column dividing line and move to suit.

Sam,
That is what I always do. Setting the width to a specific value does not work for me.
The text lengths always vary too much.

specifying the width annoys me tbh as the "preview" window in the parts list editor isn't actually what you get when you look on the idw, so end up resorting to dragging the widths to suit anyway...

methoni - Cadmanto is suggesting to double click on the parts list to bring up the editor. now right-click on the column you want to resize and choose "column width"
