opening step file problem

I have been sent a couple of STEP files from a customer.

the file shows it as being about 10Meg in size but when i open the file there is nothing in the browser nor the main screen.

can anyone shed any light on what may be causing this and how to get over the problem

I am running inventor 2013.

this problem is the same over multiple machines of differing specs.

There may not be anything wrong with what you are doing.  Might be the file.  Why don't you upload the step file here and I can try it.

Hi Egghead,

The file likely didn't resolve properly.

Try Changing the import settings until you see something.

(if a surface or solid fails, it will import a blank screen).

Also check to make sure you have solids and /or surfaces flagged in the import... if they are not flagged the Model again will be empty.

If the file is ok to share, you can post it up here and I'll take a look.

Regards,

James

Check if all the entity type in the import options dialog are turned off or not.

Can you please share a STEP file for more investigation ?
